Tea Leaves

This exhibit demonstrates inertia, turbulence and centrifugal force. The visitor spins the bowl in order to get the confetti “leaves” to move to the outside edge by centrifugal force. Stopping the bowl slows the water down along the sides and bottom of the bowl. The water at the bottom of the bowl is then pushed inward by the deeper water near the edge and pulls the confetti along with it.
