484-6208-5 Switch on the power, watch the wires sag as they rapidly heat & expand. Switch off the power and watch them contract again. With the power on, blow on the wires through the mesh. Notice that they turn black as you blow. Use the black lever on the left to move the magnet past the wires. Notice that the magnet makes them vibrate. These Nichrome wires are just like the kind you see in toasters and electric heaters. This exhibit allows the visitor to learn why the wires glow, stretch, and vibrate.
